My Tart Arnel black & amber + my Tart FDR

After several weeks of searching, my Tart eyeglass collection is growing slowly. Some may call it crazy, but I call it sentimental value. For products that were produced during the 1950s and still usable, it just shows the durability and quality of products from the bygone era. It also reminds us the need to preserve the past and of course enjoy the future.

My Tart FDR

I have just collected my Tart FDR this morning. Even though the side temple length is broader, it is quite comfortable to wear. The solid build has made it a strong eyeglass.

Vintage Tart Arnel amber

I have started the TART Arnel during my trip to Korea where I found a new reduction Tart arnel using the 1951 design. Following which, I have managed to find the vintage black Tart Arnel.
However, the most collectable is the amber colour Tart Arnel, made popular by James Dean and Johnny Depp.
The hunt for these vintage eyeglass is a challenge as firstly, I prefer the vintage NOS. secondly, to find one in the correct fitting size is another great challenge. With Christmas coming, I have finally managed to get one NOS ....Merry Christmas everyone..

泰八郎

This is my favourite 泰八郎eyeglass from Japan. Hand ade and limited production of 200 per month, one will need extreme patient to wait for the arrival of the eyeglass. What is unique about this is that the maker used vintage Celluloid that has been left to airdry and "mature" for many years before he strt to use them to mke eyeglass. As a result of the "maturty" of the celluloid, there is no need to insert in the metal to reinforce the strength of the celluloid making it one of its kind...

New Reproduction TART eyeglass

This is how I got interested with the Tart eyewear starting with the reproduction of the vintage 1950s models. Previously, I was not sure if I am able to find NOS Tart (which is why I started with the reproduction first to see if I like to wear them)

For the reproduction of the Tart, there are two TART companies producing: 1.  Raincoat company in Korea (TART OPTICAL) and 2. the TART OPTICAL ENTERPRISES.

Both companies are reproducing the classic models using Celluloid materials. Given the fact that the original Tact optical went out of business in the 1970s,..both companies now claims their rights in the reproduction with TART OPTICAL focusing in KOREA while the TART OPTICA: ENTERPRISES focus the rest...

I have bought the Korean version during my vacation in Korea and I must say that the quality of workmanship is superb as well ...
Another great fan of the Tart eyeglass

So cool....

Tart Countdown

This is another great model from Tart Optical called the Countdown. Tart Optical is the hottest company name in the vintage eyeglass market today. The Countdown is another of those classic men's Tart models from the same factory and materials that the Arnel and FDR were made. The Countdown features a striking shield on the front, with classic rectangle shields on the temple. Sturdy 7 barrel hinges hold on a thick, solid temple.

As mentioned previously, there are varieties in Tart. This is the famous FDR frame from Tart Optical. Tart Optical frames are the hottest company in the vintage market today Celebrities have been wearing this model for years, from Gene Hackman in Enemy Of The State, to Larry "Bud" Melman from the Letterman show and many others. This frame feature the famous 3 dot design on the front and temples and thick skull type temples. They don't build them like this anymore, with heavy duty hinges holding the temples to the front. The color is Amber. The "oTe " shield stamp is on the inside temple
